Campaigning

Campaign expenses may not be incurred until nomination papers are officially filed.  This includes costs such as website development, domain registration, promotional materials and advertising. Any expenses incurred prior to nomination cannot be included in your financial statements and will not be reimbursed.  You may express your intent to run through unpaid promotion such as social media posts, provided no money is spent.

This is outlined in Section 88.20(1)-(2) of the Municipal Elections Act, which states that no campaign expenses may be incurred until a person is officially nominated.  More regulations on Municipal Elections can also be found in O.Reg 101/97

Voter Information:

Register to Vote

You need to be on the voters’ list to vote in a municipal council or school board election.

Starting September 1, 2026, you can contact the Township Office for more information on how to confirm, update or add your information to the voters’ list.

Registering to vote is the voter’s responsibility and helps confirm that your name appears on the voters’ list for the Ontario municipal election. Ensuring you are on the voters’ list ahead of time ensures that you are able to download your voter’s letter and makes for a smooth voting experience.  The Voter Information Letter is required to be able to voter by internet or telephone.

Voting Process

In November, 2025, the Township of Admaston/Bromley Council passed By-law 2025-48 authorizing the use of internet/telephone voting and paper ballots for voting in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election.

These voting options are intended to provide eligible electors with a voting process that is accessible, convenient, and secure.

Voter Information Letter – Your Ticket to Vote

Eligible electors can download a Voter Information Letter (VIL) at the beginning of October 2026. This letter will include the information needed to vote once the voting period opens (October 16 – 26, 2026).

You may also contact the Voter Help Centre to inquire about receiving your Voter Information Letter in the mail, please check with the Voter Help Centre to see if your information is up to date by emailing info@admastonbromley.com or calling 613-432-2885.

The voting period will begin on October 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and will close on October 26, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.

Ballots may be cast electronically online using a:

• computer
• tablet, or
• smartphone

or by phone by calling the Vote By Phone Number that can be found on the Voter Information Letter.

Voting Assistance

A Voter Help Centre will be available during the voting period to assist eligible electors with the voting process, including:

• receiving help with internet or telephone voting
• being added to the Voters’ List
• updating personal information on the Voters’ List
• printing of Voter Information Letters

School Board Information

Your school support designation helps determine which school board voters’ list you appear on for the municipal election.

In Ontario, MPAC (Municipal Property Assessment Corporation) collects and maintains this information and provides it to Elections Ontario for the Preliminary List of Electors.

Voters should review and update their school support designation, if needed, by June 1, 2026, to help ensure their information is correct for the October 26, 2026 election.

Election Format:

The 2026 Municipal Election format will include Electronic and Telephone Voting for an advance voting period and also available on Election Day.

Traditional Paper Ballots will be available on Election Day (October 26).
