New Extended Producer Responsibility System

COMING JANUARY 1, 2026. ♻️BIG Changes to Ontario’s Blue Box Recycling Program! ♻️
Heads up, everyone! Ontario’s recycling system is undergoing a significant province-wide change that will affect how we handle our recycling.
✅ Who is in Charge Now? The old system (run by your municipality) is switching to a Producer Responsibility Model.
❓What does that mean? Producers (the companies that make the products) will now be responsible for funding and operating Blue Box services across the entire province.
♻ The New Manager: Circular Materials Ontario is taking over the management of the residential recycling program. They are a national not-for-profit organization building efficient and effective recycling systems where materials are collected, recycled, and returned back to producers to use as recycled content in new packaging and products.
‼️Important Note for Businesses/Organizations (IC&I) ‼️
This new model does not include Industrial, Commercial, or Institutional properties (like businesses, schools, and offices). The responsibility for providing recycling programs for these properties falls on the business owner.
We know changes can be confusing, but this is a major step toward a more efficient, province-wide recycling system!
❓Questions or Concerns‼️️Please contact Steve Visinski for assistance @ 613-432-2885 or email: info@admastonbromley.com

OFFICE OF THE FIRE MARSHAL

Ontario’s CO Alarm requirements are changing as of January 1, 2026 — and it’s important that every home knows what’s coming.

If your home has a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace, or attached garage (or is heated by air from such a system), the updated Fire Code now requires carbon monoxide (CO) alarms on every storey — not just outside bedrooms.

To help you stay ahead, here’s a quick safety checklist to follow before the new rules take effect:
✅ Install CO alarms near every sleeping area and on each level of your home.
✅Ensure alarms meet Canadian certification standards (CSA, ULC, ETL).
✅Test alarms monthly, replace batteries annually, and replace the unit according to manufacturer guidelines.
✅Clear vents and chimneys, and ensure fuel-burning appliances are inspected and maintained regularly.

Don’t wait — updates like these can directly save lives.
For full details on the new requirements and guidance on compliance, visit Ontario.ca/COSafety. Stay safe this winter.
